• Patterns and Algebra: finding patterns on a coordinate plane (first quadrant) using discrete data and tables, solving expressions for an unknown variable using the order of operations (whole numbers and brackets)
• Statistics and Probability: reading a variety of graphs: bar graphs, line plots, pictographs, double bar graphs, stem and leaf plots, broken line graphs, continuous line graphs, first and second-hand data, range and mode, one-to-one and many-to-one correspondence, theoretical and experimental probability outcomes, representing probability outcomes as fractions.
• Measurement: calculating the perimeter of complex polygons, area of triangles, area of parallelograms, area of trapezoids, measuring and classifying angles (acute, right, obtuse, straight, reflex, interior angles of triangles and quadrilaterals, volume of rectangular prisms, measuring capacity, converting metric measurements and metric referents.
• Geometry Concepts: measuring side lengths and angles to classify triangles as equilateral, isosceles, scalene, right, acute or obtuse, describing and drawing multiple-event transformations (translations, rotations, reflections) on a plane, reading and plotting coordinates or ordered pairs on the first quadrant of the Cartesian plane. Students need to be able to use a ruler and protractor to complete some of these activities.
