The Rs of Waste: Through a reading and creative activity, students will explore examples of the Rs of waste and their impacts on the environment. The Rs are recycle, rot (compost), reuse, reduce, repair, refill, review, repackage, restore, repurpose, refit, regift, recover, refuse and return.
Types of Waste: Students will learn about different types of waste through a variety of activities. Solid waste, liquid waste and gaseous waste are addressed along with toxic waste, types of pollution and hazard symbols.
Methods of Waste Disposal:Students will learn about all the ways waste can be disposed of and will discuss the advantages and disadvantages of each method.
Design a Waste Reduction Plan: Students will learn about ways to reduce waste before creating and implementing a waste reduction plan. Wasteful packaging is addressed in this resource. Students will learn about qualitative and quantitative data as well as relevant and valid data.
Collaborative Poster: Learn about ways to reduce waste through the different R-words. The Rs are recycle, rot (compost), reuse, reduce, repair, refill, review, repackage, restore, repurpose, refit, regift, recover, refuse and return.
