Learn about the different official symbols of Alberta including the motto, flag and coat of arms. Everything teachers need is included. Stop your search for resources for the new Alberta social studies curriculum.

This social studies lesson includes:
- a collaborative poster you can use any time of year, but it makes a great introduction to the new Alberta systems unit.
- directions to run the activity with your students.
- pictures of Alberta provincial symbols: Motto: Fortis et Liber; Colours: blue and gold; the Alberta Flag; the Alberta Coat of Arms; Bid: Great Horned Owl; Animal: Big Horn Sheep; Fish: Bull Trout; Flower: Wild Rose; Tree: Lodgepole Pine; Stone: Petrified Wood; and Grass: Rough Fescue.
- sets in 18, 24 or 36 pieces, so you can use them with any size class.
- simple instructions for your students.
- overview image to show where each piece fits into the final poster.
- pieces with different levels of detail so you can differentiate slightly.
- assembly instructions with tips for making the process as easy as possible.
- follow-up activities to practice identifying the symbols of Alberta.
- a horizontally oriented poster. Final poster sizes depend on your printer settings, but the approximate sizes are 18 pieces: 87 by 60 cm; 24 pieces: 120 by 80 cm; 36 pieces: 120 by 80 cm.
- individual piece sizes are 18 pieces: 14.5cm by 20cm, 24 pieces: 20cm by 20cm, 36 pieces 13.5cm by 20cm.
