Surviving Space STEM Challenges | Space | Sky Science | Astronomy | Paper
Encourage your students survive in outer space through this set of fifteen STEM challenges that encourage students to creatively problem-solve different scenarios. Students can research, build, create, draw, or dream up possible ways to live in space while learning about the different conditions on different planets or in weightless environments.
This engaging resource includes:
- fifteen open-ended challenges with suggestions to extend learning. These come in two formats (one for the teacher and a simpler one for students).
- a list of possible materials to use to create prototypes and diagrams.
- information on how to use the design process with these challenges.
- student planning pages (for work in groups or as individuals).
- photos of students' examples for most of the challenges.
- a rubric and suggestions for how to mark the challenges
- self and group assessment pages.
- suggestions for how challenges can be approached, but not answers since the purpose of the challenges is to be creative and think outside the box.
- a digital version of all the student pages that use Google Slides. You must download the PDF file and use the access link in the file to get your digital copy.
- an alignment guide for Alberta Outcomes.
